I bought this for my partner (as I’m getting a different one). She’s about 5ft 5in and wanted a crossbar bike, rather than a step through. We got the blue one, which really is a very nice and deep, metallic blue. The box has a stamp from Taiwan, but is in an Amazon logo box, so it seems the seller keeps a stock in storage at Amazon UK somewhere, which is good for us in the UK.When you order, don’t panic if you hear nothing for a week! After about 7 days I suddenly got a notification that it was going to be delivered the next day and it arrived as scheduled. The bike comes partly assembled in the box. You have to attach the handle bars, pedals, front wheel and seat post. All tools are provided, including a handy screwdriver, which is great. You’re going to need to get another seat as the one supplied is hard and uncomfortable, so budget for that! Plenty to choose from on Amazon.Tyres, brakes, gears and all components seem pretty good. It’s obviously a budget bike, so won’t all be top notch, but for general leisure riding it’s going to be fine. The disc brakes work well (they’ll be a little squeaky until they bed in) and the gears shift OK. Be prepared for a little set up after initial rides, which would be the same with any bike, but you can literally ride it straight after assembly out of the box.The battery on ours came with a full charge. It’s very neatly tucked into the frame and removes by unlocking with the key (2 supplied) and pulling a latching lever, so it’s securely fitted into the frame. There’s a handy weatherproof USB connection at the top of the battery too, which can be used for charging a phone, or powering a light, etc. I haven’t charged the battery yet, so can’t advise how long the power lasts or how long it takes to charge. The charger is supplied however, with a UK plug too (it’s like a laptop charger). The controller on the handlebar is basic but effective. Pressing the power button lights up the red LEDs that indicate battery power level and assist level. the + and – buttons increase or decrease the assist level, which goes from 0-3. In assist level 0 you just pedal the bike with no assistance. In the other levels you get an automatic assist when pedaling. I haven’t tried 3 yet, but in 2 with a change of gears for some speed, I flew up a small gradient incline in a local road with ease! Very impressive! The motor kicks in seamlessly and is quiet. When stationary, holding down the – button gives you ‘walk assist’, which powers the bike along at a max. 6mph without pedaling. I think the idea being that if you have heavy luggage on the bike you can push it up a hill with no effort. I’ve not tried this yet.Remember that this bike is built to conform to UK laws for electric assist bikes, so it is 250W power maximum and does not have an ‘electric only’ mode, so it has pedaling assist only. There’s no ‘throttle’ and you can’t go whizzing off from lights with a button. Although the power from the assist motor will certainly launch you quickly once you pedal, so be prepared!Overall, very impressed with the bike so far. The side stand is a nice touch too, as this is a 25kg bike, so you can set it to rest when you stop. Tyres are good and the front suspension, although basic, is going to help with comfort when riding. It comes with a small bell and reflectors too.For a first step into eBikes and as a leisure bike with a little off-road ability, I would highly recommend this as an alternative to forking out thousands on one of the bigger names.

Having had over a year of lockdown and my usual workout regime thrown out the door I decided to look at cycling. I would workout 4/5 times a week and tried running but I hate it. Sadly my mum recently passed so I needed something to get me outside and when I eventually get back into the office I wanted to cycle in but not get overly sweaty so thought I’d look at electric assisted bikes.Anyway after a lot of research you’ll be lucky to get a half decent electric bike under £1000. The power output and batter capacity are the main factors. Depending on the distance you want to go I would not recommend going below 8/9AH.I was sceptical like many others with no delivery date but I took the plunge. Once my payment was stuck in pending with no updates I tried to contact the company directly but no number or email got through. I then got refunded the money, but a day later and exactly 1 week from my order the money was paid and it arrived.First of all the bike is beautiful. For an electric bike it is subtle and well designed. The assembly was extremely easy and the battery is easy to charge with a well designed charger pack that changes to green when it is fully charged. It does take longer than specified (at least 4 hours) to charge so wait for the light to turn green. As for actually using the bike. This bike for £799 with a 9.6AH battery is an absolute bargain. Those complaining they do not see how it provides up to 35 miles on one charge are talking nonsense. In the last 6 weeks I have done about 450 miles on the bike and I am nothing but impressed with the battery. Cycling in Cornwall constantly going up steep hills it would do 35 miles no problem. Clearly these people complaining haven’t realised they need to put some effort in themselves. Now I am back in the city it goes even further and I am managing two 20/25 mile cycles on one charge no problem. The saddle is solid and does need to be changed depending on your preference. The gears are twist which I prefer because you can change gear very quickly. Getting into the highest gear (7) can sometimes be a challenge, however I have noticed if you drop to 5th gear and change straight through to 7th gear quickly it does change, but this is easily fixed with a bit of gear alignment. The brakes although excellent to start, did begin to stop working and so needed me to adjust – that being said that was after about 350 miles of high intensity use. They now work fine just needed bringing in and the cables tightened. The bike itself isn’t light so I will say when you turn off the power and cycle without the assist it does feel like you’re going through treacle so just be prepared for that. However when going up hills and steep inclines the extra boost is brilliant. I’m 6′ 2″ and weigh about 14 stone and it still gives amazing power. Even over rough terrain the power really keeps you going. It will not assist above 15 mph (UK law I believe) so don’t expect anything more than that but really that’s all you need. All in all for a first electric bike that looks good, keeps going for miles, has good suspension, gears, a powerful motor for under £800 you cannot fault it. The only reason I am giving 4 out of 5 stars is the quick wear on the brakes, the hard seat and the slight difficulty when trying to get into 7th gear. These are all minute issues.
